Spring Break Hours
Savitt will be open for regular hours during spring break, March 18th-26th, 2017.
Savitt Medical Library now provides access to JoVE Biology.
JoVE, the Journal of Visualized Experiments, is the world’s first peer-reviewed scientific video journal. JoVE is devoted to publishing scientific research in a visual format to help researchers overcome two of the biggest challenges facing the scientific research community today; poor reproducibility and the time and labor intensive nature of learning new experimental techniques.
Content in the Biology section canvases all fields of cell, molecular, and organismal biology, ranging from new applications of standard techniques to novel approaches aimed at understanding the functions of life and living organisms. This diverse section includes, but is not limited to, techniques in physical biology, cellular biochemistry, genetics, physiology, systems biology and a combination of eukaryotic and prokaryotic model systems.
To find JoVE, search by journal title.
New Circulation Supervisor
Savitt Medical Library is delighted to introduce our new Circulation Supervisor, Haley Summers.
Haley is responsible for coordinating library public services including supervising our student employees and providing reference assistance. Haley comes to us from the Knowledge Center where she worked as Head Campus Operator. Prior to that she worked in the @One as an IT Multimedia Specialist while earning her Bachelor degree in Political Science. When not at work Haley likes to play the guitar and enjoys hanging out with her dog Brown Sugga at the river. Please join us in welcoming Haley to the Savitt Medical Library Team!
Haley is located directly behind the circulation desk and can be reached via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at (775) 682-7314.
Last semester the Savitt Medical Library unveiled a new website design (https://library.unr.edu/savitt). This is part of the larger UNR Libraries platform. It offers a number of advantages including easier transitions to and from the Knowledge Center site.
This new website has been linked from our current website for several months, and we appreciate the feedback we have received so far. We will be making the final cut over on Tuesday, March 21. So, if you haven’t done so already, please take a look and let us know what you think!
Computing Help Desk
Savitt Medical Library’s Computing Help Desk hours are: Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
If you need assistance during the week and the door is closed or no one is available, please let a student at the circulation desk know and they will try to locate someone from the back. If it is a Citrix related issue please do not go to the Knowledge Center (KC) for assistance as Citrix is only supported by the medical school.
Faculty, staff and students can also obtain assistance by contacting the Help Desk via phone at (775) 682-5000, option 2 or by submitting a FootPrints IT help request.
